The towns, villages and hamlets of Aubrac
Discover the villages of the Aubrac mountains, a land of tradition where past and present merge for an authentic and unique experience.
To the south of Aubrac, in the Lozérian part, discover the villages of Aubrac and its foothills: Les Hermaux, Les Salces, Saint-Pierre-de-Nogaret, Trélans, Saint-Germain-du-Teil… all bear yesteryear’ villages charm. These hamlets and villages have successfully combined past and present, and Aubrac cow breeders welcome newcomers and tourists with enthusiasm. Saint-Germain-du-Teil has many shops and services (schools, grocery store, bakery, post office, butcher shop ...) necessary for daily life.
However, there are things that do not change: you can always hear the church bell tinting at regular intervals, the same one that had been watching over these parishioners for centuries and before. We can still admire, as in Plagnes, the traces bequeathed to us by the monks of the Domerie d'Aubrac when in the Middle Ages they reigned as masters and protectors on the territory. The villages of Aubrac, Saint-Chély d'Aubrac and Nasbinals have always seen pilgrims on their way to Santiago of Compostela for many centuries, and the traditional knives, renowned worldwide, are still produced in the village of Laguiole.
