The village of Les Salces on the Aubrac mountains
The commune of Les Salces, in the Aubrac mountains, is vast and sparsely populated: 2.2 inhabitants per km2. The hamlets here are picturesque and the landscapes magnificent. Pastures, meadows but also many wooded areas are crossed by singing boraldes (local streams).
The village of Les Salces but also the hamlets of Le Fromental, as well as Pierrefiche and Trébatut look like postcards, authenticity in addition. Here, the bread ovens, fountains and other granite crosses are restored and testify to the not so distant time when they were an integral part of human life.
The Bonnecombe Pass
Located between Les Salces and Les Hermaux villages, the Bonnecombe Pass is the gateway to the high plateau of Aubrac and the Route des Lacs (Lakes Route). There are a fishing pond, hiking trails, but also a winter sports resort open when the weather conditions allow. It is also where transhumance takes place, each year on the Sunday closest to May 25. This traditional festival attracts a large number of visitors each year who come to admire the beautiful decorated Aubrac cows.
