Le Massegros
Proudly erected at the entrance of the village, Gédéon, the Massegros’ shepherd (Lou Pastre) welcomes you to the Tarn river Canyon and the Grands Causses highlands. Land of breeding and agriculture, Le Massegros has many farms mainly focused on sheep production and benefits from three dairies on its territory. Salakis, Lou Pérac, Toison d'Oc, Bleu du Massegros and other tome de Mijoule, no less than 20 different cheeses are produced in Le Massegros. In addition to this agricultural tradition, Le Massegros makes tourism one of its priorities. Ideally located at a stone's throw from the Tarn river Canyon and in the heart of the Causse de Sauveterre highland plateau, all kinds of outdoor activities are available: hiking, cycling (road or all-terrain), canoeing, stand up paddle, rafting, climbing, via ferrata...
Shops and entertainment at Le Massegros
In the village’s center, everything has been thought of to best accommodate the tourist clientele. Local shops and services with bakery, grocery store, car garage, tobacco, press, ATM, post office, tourist office, etc. In terms of amenities, mini golf, tennis courts, city stadium, bicycle court and other playgrounds, all freely accessible, allow vacationers to have fun in a rural and bucolic setting.
Like any other tourist destination, sporting or more traditional, the events testify to the village’s vitality and its privileged relationship with nature and traditions: Tarn river Canyon Trail in April, May 8th’s Fair, Bread Festival in July, Night Market in August, Gourmet Hike in September, Night Hike in October…
