Discover the village of Chanac
The tower and the remains of the medieval castle dominate the heart of the village of Chanac at the top of its natural rocky headland. Located in the Lot river Valley, Chanac proposes many outdoor activities as well as annual festivities.
The summer period is boosted by numerous events and sports such as the Lozère Trail at Pentecost, the votive festival end of June and in July-August the Détours du Monde festival (foreign music concerts), the Fèsta d'Estiu (summer festival), the large lively garage sale, the photo-painting exhibition ... All along with a weekly entertainment program rich in discoveries and accessible to everyone thanks to guided tours, accompanied hikes, equestrian activities, caving trips or fauna and flora animations supervised by naturalists.
Chanac is also full of history since medieval times. Even today, we perceive this anchoring to the traditions of times but also thanks to the presence of a rich vernacular heritage, the so-called “small” heritage such as the washhouse, the old ferradou (a farrier station) or the bell tower.
"Chanac is not just a village, it’s a mini-city "
