La Sablière

A haven of nature and culture on the Tarn river banks

La Sablière, hamlet on the left bank of the Tarn river Canyon

The hamlet of La Sablière is emblematic of the Tarn river Canyon. Former convent of the 11th century, it is one of these small villages enclosed between the left bank of the Tarn and the cliffs of the Causse Méjean plateau, which almost fell into oblivion, when the arrival of the right bank road pushed their inhabitants to expatriate on the other side of the river.

The hamlet of La Sablière is therefore a survivor! Lovers of this little piece of paradise fought to return its soul and beauty. It is now possible to come and visit the hamlet, accessible only by boat. Many visits and activities are organized by the Association Essentielle, which manages this unique place.
